The United States Postal Service is committed to modernizing its facilities and its vehicle fleet, including rolling out electric “Next Generation Delivery Vehicles”. In fact, the USPS plans to have more than 66,000 electric vehicles in operation by 2028. To help them achieve that goal, the facilities undergoing initial modernization efforts — such as Erie PA — require qualified electricians who are not only able to coordinate utility services, but also to install and commission Switchgear, Panelboards, and EV Charging Equipment.
The team from Ullman Electric working at the Erie, PA post office project upgraded the interior and exterior lighting and controls to include more efficient LEDs and occupancy sensors and also added power and data drop locations for future efforts being undertaken at the USPS. Coordination with Penelec included the installation of a new 1500kVA transform on a second utility service to ultimately power what amounts to 37 new Blink Dual-Port EV Chargers, to “fuel” at least 74 EV Vehicles at once.
